Individuals with a Cigna Medigap plan receive benefits under the plan best suited to their needs or the needs of loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>Review information about the plans, the costs, and coverage provided by Cigna Medigap policies, including coverage for some senior care and <a href=\"\/senior-townhomes\/\">senior housing needs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>What Are Cigna Medicare Supplement Plans?<\/h2>\n<p>Medicare supplement plans are health insurance plans that cover the gaps in Original Medicare. Private insurance companies sell the plans and are required to abide by federal and state laws governing Medigap.<\/p>\n<p>The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) points out that the front of the policy has to identify it as &#8220;Medicare Supplement Insurance.&#8221; Standardized Medigap policies mean that all plans have the same benefits, no matter which private insurance company sells them.<\/p>\n<p>Cigna invites individuals to choose the best plan for their needs with competitive prices, no networks and ability to choose the doctor that you want to visit.<\/p>\n<h2>What DoCigna Medicare Supplement Plans Cover?<\/h2>\n<p>All Cigna Medicare supplement plans provide benefits stipulated by law as standardized coverage. Not all plans are available in every state. Cigna reveals that in 18 states, persons purchasing a Cigna Medigap policy who are under 65 and disabled have the option to choose from all plans.<\/p>\n<p>All Medicare supplement plans require that you have both Medicare Part A and <a href=\"\/medicare-medicaid\/part-b\/\">Medicare Part B<\/a> benefits. Companies offering Medigap Plans have to offer Plan A and Plan B if they offer any plans. The company also must provide either <a href=\"\/medicare-medicaid\/part-c\/\">Plan C<\/a> or Plan F.<\/p>\n<p>Cigna's High Deductible Plan F (HDF) offers a high deductible option that pays the same benefit coverage as Plan F, with Cigna stating that you pay all Medicare-covered costs up to the deductible amount before HDF pays anything. HDF potentially offers lower premiums, so discuss this plan with your Cigna Medicare supplement plan representative to see if you possibly benefit from choosing HDF.<\/p>\n<p>Plan N provides for 100 percent coverage of Part B coinsurance, with exception of a co-payment of up to $20 for office visits and up to $50 for emergency room visits not resulting in hospital admission.<\/p>\n<p>All of the Cigna Medicare supplement plan options feature coverage for Part A coinsurance or co-payment costs. Plan B helps pay the 20 percent for Part B expenses not covered by Original Medicare.<\/p>\n<p>Cigna Medigap Plans C, D, F, HDF, G and Plan N offer coverage for skilled nursing facility coinsurance payments so long as you had a recent hospital stay of at least three days and go to the skilled nursing facility within 30 days of that hospital admission. Plan A and Plan B do not provide this coverage. These details potentially make the difference in which plan is the ideal plan for you or your family member, so if you need a plan that provides skilled nursing facility coverage, <a href=\"\/hospice\/\">hospice care coverage<\/a> or are in need of coverage for other senior housing or senior care needs, discuss those needs with your Cigna Medicare supplement plan representative.<\/p>\n<h2>How Much Does Cigna Medicare Supplement Plans Cost?<\/h2>\n<p>Medigap policy costs vary significantly in some cases, due to guidelines set by the private insurers offering the policies. Medicare reveals that some prices vary widely among different insurers, even for Medigap policies offering exactly the same benefits and services. This is another reason you want to discuss senior care and senior housing needs with the Cigna Medigap representative.<\/p>\n<p>Cigna indicates that it offers &#8220;Competitive rates&#8221; for all its Medicare supplement plan policies, with options to select from additional supplement insurance &#8220;For life's unexpected events.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Medicare supplement plans are rated by three different methods, which affect the costs of the plans, both now and in future years. If you have a Community Rated plan, this means everyone pays the same price, regardless of age. If your neighbor is 65 and you are 85, you both pay the same for your Community Rated plan.<\/p>\n<p>If you have an Issue-Age-Rated Policy, your age at the time you purchase your Medigap policy determines your premium costs.<\/p>\n<p>An Attained-Age Rated policy goes up as you age and is likely the most expensive after some time.<\/p>\n<h2>How Do I Enroll In A Cigna Medicare Supplement Plan?<\/h2>\n<p>Cigna representatives make sure you meet basic requirements to help you enroll in a Medicare supplement plan.<\/p>\n<p>The best time to enroll is when you first become eligible, anywhere from three months before through three months after you reach 65 years of age.
