Cellular phones are an important part of the world today in that they help everybody stay connected. Older adults often live alone, isolated from the majority of their family. Some have specific health needs that must be closely monitored. For these seniors, a connection to the outside world that a cellular phone provides is indispensable. Moreover, having a cell phone<\/a> can provide the security seniors need to get out and live active lives.<\/p>\n

Features for Seniors<\/h2>\n

The cellular industry \u2013 for the most part \u2013 is not focused on the needs of older adults. They rarely consider the need for larger buttons and screens, brighter lighting of screens and buttons, or enhanced speakers to accommodate hearing problems.<\/p>\n

However, Verizon does offer a specially priced plan for those customers who are 55 years of age or older. The Verizon Go Unlimited 55+ plan offers all the features of their regular Go Unlimited plan at a price that is designed to fit within the fixed budgets on which many seniors live more easily.<\/p>\n

Costs<\/h2>\n

This plan is designed to save older adults money on their cellular bill. It requires a contract and is only available to customers with addresses in Detroit, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, and Texas.<\/p>\n

Phone Cost<\/h3>\n

There is no special phone that needs to be purchased to utilize Verizon\u2019s Go Unlimited 55+ service plan. Customers may purchase a new phone or use the one they already have; even if it is not a Verizon phone. It should be noted, however, that only smartphones will be able to make use of all the features included with this plan.<\/p>\n

Monthly Service Plans<\/h3>\n

This plan is available for up to two lines when the primary account owner is 55 years of age or older. Current customers of Verizon that turn 55 must call to get the savings as they are not automatically given the discounted rate. Furthermore, this plan is not compatible with any other form of discounts such as business, military, or employee discounts.<\/p>\n
